Laundry rooms
Both Kilonrinne and Kilonkallio have their own laundry rooms. The laundry rooms contain two washing machines, a spin dryer and a tumble dryer. The machines are paid with a phone call, more specific instruction can be found in the laundry rooms. Washing one load of laundry costs approximatively 1,3 ¤.
Sauna reservations
There are two saunas in the maintenance building of Kilonrinne and one in Kilonkallio's side. A weekly one hour sauna turn costs 8 ¤/month. Sauna reservations can be made in Leppävaara's local office.
In addition there is one free sauna turn for everybody each week at the Kilonrinne's sauna:
- Men on mondays between 17.00 - 23.00 (sauna 1)
- Women on mondays between 17.00 - 23.00 (sauna 2)
At other times the saunas are locked and not heated.
Waste management
The tenants of HOAS are required to separate their own wastes. The money spent on waste management is directly transferred to the rents, so in addition to being ecological, waste separation has an real effect on your own outcome. The waste manager charges separately for each trash bag left outside the waste containers and misseparated paper and biowaste container, so it should be emphasized that leaving garbage bags, old furniture or other paraphernalia around the waste containers is strictly forbidden.
Instructions for separating waste are given in the table below. At least biodegradeable waste, paper, cardboard, glassware and hazardous waste must be separated from the mixed waste. Separating other content requiring longer carrying distances (such as metal etc.), is left on the tenants consideration. Remember however, that all waste delivered elsewhere reduces the costs charged from the location.
Note that hazardous waste must never be left in the containers reserved for general mixed wast, and the mixed waste must never be left in the containers reserved for biowaste or paper.

Car parks
Reserving a parking square
Kilonrinne's side has a total of 77 parking squares with plugs for electrical heaters. The car park on the Kilonkallio's side has only 37 squares, each of which is unequiped (ie. without a plug for electrical heater). You can reserve a parking square from the local office of Leppävaara.

Parking surveillance
Parking is strictly forbidden between the houses and along the small yard roads. This is to ensure the free passage of emergency vehicles and snow cars, and to lessen the noise and dust passing to the apartements.
Parking on the premises is surveilled by personnel authorised by the tenant committee and workers of the maintenance company. They themselves have no right to give parking fines, only the right to call the parking surveillance of the city to do that (this is because because Kilonrinne 10 and Kilonkallion 10 are private area, and thus it is not duty of city's parking surveillance). A parking fine is approximatively 40 ¤.
Parking squares for guests
Kilonkallio's car park has three squares for guests, whence the car park on the Kilonrinne's side has no squares for guests due to spatial limitations. Nearest free parking squares can be found along Kilonrinne and Kilonkalliontie, from Kilo's station and next to Kilonportti's buildings.
Fault reports and opening the door
Fault report
In problems concerning water pipes, electricity, heating or visibility of television, you should turn to the maintenance company. You can make an electric fault report here, or by contacting the maintenance company with telephone.
Opening the door
If you have locked yourself out of the apartement, you can order a door opening from the securitas. The price for opening the door is 5-51 ¤ depending on the time of day, and how you pay for it.
Problems with the Internet connection
On problems related to the Internet connection you can call directly the ISP, Sonera. The telephone number is 0800 155555.
Storage rooms
Cage storages
The apartements of Kilonrinne can each take possession of the cage storage with the same number as the apartement. The cage storages are located in the basements of A and E buildings. The cage storage must be equiped with a sign indicating the number of appartement and name.
The tenants of Kilonkallio can take possession of the cage storage of their choice. The storages are located in the basement of A building.
The cage door must be equiped with a sign indicating the number of the appartement and tenant's name.
Bicycle storages
Storages for bicycles can be found in the basements of Kilonrinne's buildings A and E, and on Kilonkallio's side, basement of building F.
Hobby possibilities and equipment for loan
Grills
- Kilonrinne's and Kilonkallio's grills are in free use of the tenants of Kilonrinne 10 and Kilonkallio 10.
- Wood for the grills is usually available in Kilonrinne's former waste shed (the yellow shed next to the waste containers).
- Equipment for the grills (grill plates, etc.) can be inquired from the MTC in charge of the woodwork room.
- The grills are in common use and can not be reserved for private occasions.
- The grills must not be used after 22:00 on weekdays and 23:00 on weekends and holidays. Remember also, that making loud noise is forbidden at all times.
Club room
- Club room is located on the second floor of Kilonrinne's maintenance building. The club room is equiped with among others, a pool table and a darts board.
- The club room is kept locked to prevent misconducts, the key can be loaned from the MTC in charge of the club room.
- The club room can also be reserved for private parties and other occasions:
- The reservation must be made at least two weeks in advance by contacting the MTC in charge of the club room.
- A note on the reservation must be left on the maintenance building's bulleting board at least one week in advance.
- The room must be cleaned after the event.
Gym
- A small gym is located in Kilonkallio's H building, right opposite to the mail boxes.
- Keys to the gym can be borrowed from the MTC in charge of sports, in exchange of a deposit of 20 ¤.
Recycling room
- Recycle your needless belongings, which are still usable and not broken.
- Before buying a new shelf or visiting a flea market, check the contents of the recycling room first.
- The recycling room lies in the basement of Kilonkallio's G building. The door opens with apartement's key.
Sewing room
- Shortening of trousers and curtains, fixing torn seams and attaching textile markers are easily done with suitable machines.
- Key to the sewing room can be borrowed from the MTC in charge of the sewing room.
- The sewing room lies in the basement of Kilonkallio's G building.
Woodwork room
- The woodwork room is located in the maintenance building of Kilonrinne, on the uppermost car park's side.
- The woodwork room contains basic tools from hammers, to saws, to drills and other small machines.
- The key can be borrowed from the MTC in charge of the woodwork room
Dark room
- For those interested in photographing, a dark room with basic equipment is available for the tenant's use.
- The dark room is situated in the presense of the sewing room, in the basement of Kilonkallio's G building.
- The key can be borrowed from the MTC in charge of the sewing room.
Tenant committee
General
Tenant committee handles different kind of tasks: meetings, writing petitions, and making suggestions, commenting the budget, parties and trips, etc. It depends on the activity of the tenants and the tenant committee how many occasions are arranged.
The tenant committee is chosen in the yearly meeting of tenants, which is held between September and November. The meeting is called in by HOAS. An invitation to the meeting is delivered to each appartement and the bulleting boards at least one week in advance. All tenants, who are at least 18 years old, and are living in the location with a contract of their own can vote in the meeting and stand as a candidate for the tenant committee. Only one person living in the same apartement can be elected in the tenant committee. Term of the tenant committee lasts usually one year, and ends when the next tenant committee starts it's term.
Administrative tasks
Administrative tasks of the tenant committee include meetings, surveillance of HOAS's rules and regulations, and managing the borrowable property. It's role include also commenting HOAS's budget, making statements and suggestions on it, as well as tasks related to the yearly allowance granted by HOAS, such as surveillance of the balance and clearances to HOAS.
Tenant service
The tenant services is the most visible part of tenant committee's activity. Tenant service may include different kind's of events, like parties, game evenings, sports and trips. In addition the tenant committee informs tenants about it's activity, and makes sure that contact information for it's members is available.

Presentation of the location
Surroundings
Location's buildings are built out of wood, and have apartements in two floors. The location lies on a peacefull woody hill just 500 meters from Kilo's train station (see this map).
Equipment of the estate
The real estate has saunas, laundry rooms and different kinds of hobby rooms.
Commercial services
A grocery shop (Siwa) and two kiosk's are within a walking distance from the apartements. The shopping center Sello is roughly two kilometers from the location, In Leppävaara, and it contains, among others, restaurants, banks, Prisma-market and Citymarket, apothecary and a post office. Also a video rental shop can be found in Leppävaara.
Sports
Leppävaara's sport center (1.5 kilometers away) contains an athletics field, a sawdust track, a skating rink, a swimming bath, tennis fields, a gym and a ballgame hall. Surrounding areas are also excellent for jogging. In Leppävaara's centre there is also a fit center. Nearest dog park lies near Kilo's school, around 2.3 kilometers away. Kilonkartano's riding school is at distance of one kilometer.
Tenant activity
In the mutual use of Kilonkallio 10's and Kilonrinne 10's tenants are club room, gym, recycling room, woodwork room, sewing room and darkroom of these estates. The tenant committee takes care of purchasing new equipment. Equipment available for loan include among others a ball grill, various board games, PlayStation 2 game consoles, and a sewing machine.
Other services
From Leppävaara you can find Espoo's head library, worker's institute, common service desk and a Kela's office. The health centre for Kilo's tenants lies near Kilo's stations, and the dentist at Kilo's school.
Means of communication
Distance to Helsinki's heart is approximatively 13 kilometers.
- Generally, the fastest choice is to take a train. Trains S, U, E and L stop at Kilo, and they arrive in Helsinki in 15 to 25 minutes. The L train is slightly slower than the others, since it stops on every station on Helsinki's side.
- Other possibility is to take one of the buses driving along Turuntie (248, 261, 270, 290, etc.), or 110T which drives via Tapuola. With a bus it takes around half an hour to get to Helsinki.
Internal bus connection's to Espoos regional centers:
- To Otaniemi with buses 550, 510, 512A and 52 from Leppävaara.
- To Tapiolaan with the bus 110T.
- To Olari and Matinkylä with buses 5 and 35
Take also advantage of YTV's Journey Planner, which can be found from www.reittiopas.com (The journey planner might give drastically different routes depending on whether you put Kilokallio 10 or Kilonrinne 10 as your starting point. It might be a good idea to try both to find the best route).
For whom:
The appartement suit for families, couples or loners (cells). Apartments of two rooms are also rented for alone-livers.
Others:
The estate contains also apartments for international exchange programmes. Studios and two-room apartements have a limited renting time of two years. All apartements are equiped with Sonera's DSL Internet connection.
